As both an experienced architect, project manager and project designer, Emily is actively involved in all phases of architecture and interior design. She has a keen ability to listen and comprehend the client’s needs. Her design approach is to first and foremost understand the client’s wishes and desires and to understand how the client would like to use and live within a space. Her success as a designer is tied directly to her outstanding ability to understand these holistic needs of our clients and respond with an appropriate design that encourages a natural way of living. Emily has a solid understanding of the code and regulatory requirements that confront every project and works efficiently with building officials to navigate projects through the regulatory process. She combines her passion for historic preservation and design excellence to the creation and renovation of buildings throughout New Orleans. Emily has an intimate understanding of the construction methods of historic buildings and has extensive experience obtaining State and Federal Historic Tax Credits for many of our clients as well. Under Emily’s leadership as Director of Production, the Waring Architects’ studio has grown to a team of talented designers and architectural interns. She oversees the quality of production drawings, manages time schedules, and works to keep projects on budget. Emily holds a Bachelor’s of Architecture and a Bachelor’s of Interior Design from Auburn University. She is a Registered Architect, Registered Interior Designer, a member of NCARB, and a member of AIA.
Emily has served on the Board of the PTO for Audubon Charter School and is a Girl Scout Troop Leader. When she isn’t working, Emily enjoys traveling, camping, and archery with her daughter, Kristall.

Calla Bardwell’s favorite childhood toy was Legos. This early love of miniature building led her to the professional path of becoming a master Lego builder, so to speak, or at the next best thing, an Intern Architect here at Waring Architects. She escaped the suburbs of Connecticut on an academic pursuit and found another true love: New Orleans. Her dual masters in Architecture and Real Estate Development from Tulane University have instilled an interest in and love for the historic fabric of this great city. Fresh out of academia, in the summer of 2016, Calla transitioned to a full time position with us. She enjoys being a part of the design team and is always excited to be involved in all phases of architectural services.
Outside of work and while avoiding her ARE Exams, Calla is a full on craft enthusiast and plant collector with a small cat problem.
Patti Murla came on board at the end of 2016. She is the herder when it comes to scheduling and keeping track of Who’s Who in the Zoo of projects at Waring Architects. Patti knows where we are supposed to be at all times and keeps everyone on track. She is the nurturing element to WA and makes sure we are hydrated and well fed. Patti keeps up when we punt tasks to her and brings them in for the return whenever necessary. She continues to be an integral part of our team and we don’t know what we would do without her.
Patti is a wife, mother, and proud grandmère to Bria. She and her husband are true Disney aficionados and vacation there whenever possible (is twice a year too much?).
