As both an experienced architect, project manager and project designer, Emily is actively involved in all phases of architecture and interior design. She has a keen ability to listen and comprehend the client’s needs. Her design approach is to first and foremost understand the client’s wishes and desires and to understand how the client would like to use and live within a space. Her success as a designer is tied directly to her outstanding ability to understand these holistic needs of our clients and respond with an appropriate design that encourages a natural way of living. Emily has a solid understanding of the code and regulatory requirements that confront every project and works efficiently with building officials to navigate projects through the regulatory process. She combines her passion for historic preservation and design excellence to the creation and renovation of buildings throughout New Orleans. Emily has an intimate understanding of the construction methods of historic buildings and has extensive experience obtaining State and Federal Historic Tax Credits for many of our clients as well. Under Emily’s leadership as Director of Production, the Waring Architects’ studio has grown to a team of talented designers and architectural interns. She oversees the quality of production drawings, manages time schedules, and works to keep projects on budget. Emily holds a Bachelor’s of Architecture and a Bachelor’s of Interior Design from Auburn University. She is a Registered Architect, Registered Interior Designer, a member of NCARB, and a member of AIA.
Emily has served on the Board of the PTO for Audubon Charter School and is a Girl Scout Troop Leader. When she isn’t working, Emily enjoys traveling, camping, and archery with her daughter, Kristall.×

Kimberly McDaniel was brought to the Waring Architects’ team and adjusted so well that she added her own spin on a considerable amount of the goings-on here at WA. All other aspects of the Firm, outside of architectural design and production, fall under her purview, including administrative, contract management, office, financial, client support, and facilities management for Waring Architects, as well as construction management for other specialized projects and anything else that comes up in the meantime. Kimberly is a perfect fit for WA because of her diverse background and experience in organization, administration, business management, and legal services. Midstream in a pre-pharmacy curriculum at Loyola/Xavier, Kim followed her then-husband’s career to live in the Midwest. While there she opened her own business in the Quad Cities’ Area on the border of Iowa and Illinois. Kimberly had 900% growth within the first four years of business and sold it after six; that business is still going strong today. Kimberly moved back to New Orleans in 2003 and built her own franchise restaurant from the ground up under the auspices of the family business. Her restaurant opened in August 2004 and, one year and one week later, the restaurant was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Kimberly made the tough choice not to rebuild and reinvented herself and returned to the law as a Paralegal and Administrator for a law firm. It wasn’t until the new year of 2015 that Kim decided to venture away from the legal field and to (once again) reinvent herself here at Waring Architects. Kim feels as though all of her experience has prepared her perfectly for her role as our Business Manager here at WA and we couldn’t agree more. Subsequent to joining our team, Kimberly passed the Louisiana Notarial exam in June of 2015.
Outside of Waring Architects, Kimberly enjoys a multitude of interests including running, cycling, traveling, and socializing. She is forever grateful for every day spent in this great city.×
Architect / Project Manager
Mississippi State University / 2006 / Bachelor of Architecture
2nd-Year Design Award, President’s Scholar
Born in Sweden, Henrik grew up in rural Mississippi. He attended architecture school at Mississippi State University and graduated in 2006. Seeking adventure and great architecture, Henrik moved to New York City and worked at a boutique residential architecture firm. Over the next six years, Henrik learned how to create elegant spaces for an urban environment that maximized every square inch. After moving to New Orleans with his future wife, he worked in construction, adding to his knowledge about how buildings are built and, more importantly, how a design can breakdown on the long road between the architect’s drawing board and a contractor’s construction trailer. In the summer of 2015, Henrik accepted a position as the newest team member at Waring Architects as a project manager and intern architect. Henrik obtained his architecture license in 2017.
Waring Architects proudly maintains a pet-friendly environment. While it has been terrific that Henrik’s personality has meshed so well with the rest of the Team, it’s a double bonus since Henrik’s dogs, Zelda and Moon Pie, have too.×
Patti Murla is the latest and greatest addition to our team. She came onboard at the end of 2016 and has become an integral member in each department. Patti is always ready and willing to do whatever is necessary and goes beyond the call of duty without being asked. She coordinates our meetings and keeps everyone on track. Patti has taken on each challenge without batting an eye and takes on whatever is thrown her way. Patti spoils each of us rotten and we are tremendously grateful to have her as a part of the WA team!
Outside of her position with Waring Architects, Patti is a mother to two and grandmother to one. She and her husband are both extremely family-oriented and always put family first. It is in our opinion that she and her husband can officially be considered Disney aficionados.×
